Machine Tufted carpet is a solution produced in a similar manner to a traditional sewing machine, with hundreds of needles stitching the yarns into a backing fabric. This cost effective technique produces endless textural and design possibilities, from geometric to unstructured. It allows to have different looks on the surface of the carpet, such as plush cut pile, multi-loop, cut and loop, upper pile and carving.
The creation of tufted carpets requires the use of a tufting machine. Needles are mounted into position on tufting machines and help to push the fiber through the primary backing. A secondary backing is then adhered to the primary backing with latex for a 2-dimensional construction. Settings on the machine can be programmed to create pile tufts that are uniform in height and distribution. The machines can also be set to create a pattern composed of tufts with different heights.
This type of carpet is suitable for hotel guest rooms and meeting rooms, as it requires high minimum quantities. The available qualities are:
- 80% wool, 20% nylon: heavy pile weight of 1560g/sqm, heavy cut and loop pile, any color combination available, the minimum quantity for each color is 1000 sqm.
- polypropylene: cut and loop pile or all loop pile, any color combination available, the minimum quantity for each color is 1500 sqm.
